My Poor Baby

Why is it that kids always get sick at the most inconvenient times? Thursday night I went out shopping with my mom and my dad stayed home with Logan. When my mom and I got back home, we could tell Logan didn't feel good. He had a fever of about 103. Since I didn't bring the medicine cabinet with me, I had to go to the store to get him some motrin. All through the night and the next day, his temperature stayed at around 103. My mom and dad thought I should take him to the doctor. Since it was late, and I am out of town, I took him to an urgent care facility. When the tech came in and took his vitals his temp was 103.7 and they said his oxygen level was really low. She told us we should have taken him to the ER, then yelled out, "I need a doctor in here ASAP!" Talk about getting scared! Well, his oxygen level came up, they gave him motrin for the fever and took a strep culture. The culture came back negative, but the doctor felt that his fever was being caused by his "red, puffy throat." He prescribed amoxicillan for him. So, we started the med Friday evening.

Since Friday, Logan's fever has gone down to about 100, but he developed a rash all over his chest, stomach, back, and groin area. I didn't know if the rash was an allergic reaction to the meds or what, so I called a pediatrician today and took him in. This doctor told me that Logan's throat was a little red and he thought he had a viral infection. He said to think of the rash as more of a side effect of the medicine than an allergic reaction. He also told me to stop giving him the amoxicillan and to let his body take care of itself.

So, after who knows what kind of bill we are looking at, we were basically told to do nothing. I could have done that on my own. ;-) But, it's better to be safe than sorry, I know.

We're Not Homeless

After closing only nine days late, I am happy to say that we FINALLY have a house! We were getting worried there for a while because we were supposed to close on April 21. The lease at our apartment ended on April 30, which is the day we finally did close. Because this house was a foreclosure, it needs some work done, so I will be staying with my parents until the contractors are finished working on the house. The previous owners decided to take pretty much everything out of the house: all appliances (which is the main reason I'm not staying there), light fixtures/ceiling fans, shower heads, kitchen and bathroom cabinet door pulls, towels racks in the bathrooms, toilet paper dispensers...you name it, they took it. We are also getting new flooring everywhere but the bathrooms. The flooring is really the biggest thing the contractors have to do, so hopefully they will get in and be done pretty quick. Adam had a meeting with the contractor today, so we are hoping to get a schedule this afternoon of when they will start and how long they expect it to take.

I won't be able to post any pictures until I get home, but I promise to do that as soon as I can. Now, keep in mind that I will have unpacking to do, but, I'll see what I can do! ;-) I can tell you that I have some pretty cute pictures of Logan to share, so stay tuned!
