Snowpocalypse Atlanta, 2011

As you have probably heard, we were hit with quite a winter storm Sunday night. We had heard that the snow was going to start falling at around 10:00 Sunday night. So, after church that night we ran to the store to get a few things and then got dinner. We finally made it home and ate and were about to put Logan to bed and I asked him if it had started snowing yet. He and Adam ran to the window and at first said no, but just a few seconds later said it was coming down. It happened that fast and as predicted, it was 9:45. We tried to get pictures of the snow that night, but they didn't turn out too well. But, the next morning, Logan had quite a surprise! He has had four days off school this week because of this winter storm. We will see if he gets off Friday, too.

This was taken about 30 minutes after the snow started falling.

Looking out our front door the next morning!

Look at the snow piled in front of the front door.

The backyard.

Logan can't wait to get out and play in the snow!

Excited and ready to play!

The second day...Kelsey not real thrilled about being outside.

But, Logan is still having fun!

They are making a "sculpture."

The sculpture is complete! What a masterpiece!
It's been a fun week and I've enjoyed having Logan home, but I am a southern girl and very ready for the warmth to come back! So, please sun, wherever you are, come back to Atlanta; I miss you!

More Christmas

We didn't get many pictures on Christmas because my dad got a new fancy camera, so I'm relying on his pictures. However, we got a few, and only a few! So, the first thing we did was make magic reindeer food! Then, the kids got to open two presents...one from each set of grandparents!

I hope the reindeer think this looks good!

Notice Logan's shoes. :)

Spreading the magic reindeer food on the lawn, hoping it will lead Santa to our house!

Kelsey thinks Kalyn won't notice if she opens her present. Sneaky!

Presents from Granny and Pa.

Presents from Grandma Sherry.

The biggest kid of all!!!

It actually snowed on Christmas Day. So, we had a white Christmas!

Merry Christmas! (pt. 1)

Well, the holidays have come and gone and things have finally slowed down a bit. We had so much going on right before Christmas: Logan had a Christmas "program" and party at school, we had a Christmas party with some kids from church, and of course getting everything in the house ready before company arrived!

So, the first item on the agenda was Logan's Christmas program at school. They sang two songs for us and then had a class Christmas party and book exchange. It was a lot of fun, but I think Logan was a little embarassed and nervous with all the parents looking at them. He did sing the songs but it wasn't until the end of the last song that he started to relax and do the little hand motions that went along with the songs, but it was still cute.

Waiting for all the parents to arrive for the Christmas program.

The first song-a little nervous!

Jingle Bells!

Time for the book exchange!

Eating lunch with friends.

Santa visited the school and read a story to the kids.

And also took pictures with them!

Silly faces!!!
Next, we had a little Christmas party with some kids from church. They decorated cookies and also had a book exchange. Logan kind of embarassed me a little at this book exchange. Here's what happened: Logan opened his book and the first thing out of his mouth was, "I already have this book!" I tried to hush him quickly and tell him it was okay and say thank you. Well, another mom was sitting next to Logan with her little boy and said Logan could trade with him. So, Logan took the book from that little boy, who was still opening the book, and finished opening it and again said, "I have this book." and gave it back. The mom looked at me and asked if he did, and I said yes. So, again someone else said Logan could trade with them, and we also had that book. So, Logan kept the book he opened first and now just has two of those. No big deal, but he let everyone know that he already had those books. Yes, we like books and Logan is building his library very quickly. :) Kelsey also had fun at this little party with some of the babies who are the same age as she is. There is a set of twin boys who are about a month older than she is, and another little boy about a month younger than she is. Just a few of the several from church that were born around the same time she was.

Kelsey with her little buddies. So cute!

Having lunch with friends.

Cookie decorating time! What fun!!!

Time to eat the finished product. YUMMY!
After all these festivities, we only had two days to get the house ready for everyone. That was a lot of work. Adam patched up some holes that were in the wall over the fireplace. Then, I had to paint the wall, which I finished just a few hours before everyone showed up. It may have still been a little wet!

Before

After! Nice job, babe!
We were so excited that Kira, Casey, and Kalyn were able to come for Christmas this year! We had a lot of fun watching the kids play together and open their presents on Christmas morning. We stayed up late pretty much every night playing games and having a lot of laughs. More pics of Christmas fun to come. Stayed tuned!

But, here are a couple of Daddy reading the bedtime story to Logan and Kelsey. Very cute!
